
Victoria Carlin is a full-time commissioned artist, accepting portrait work since 1990.
Victoria maintains a freshness and spontaneity of approach. Her paintings begin with intense observation. She combines her academic traditional training with the fresh ingenuity of an impressionist, bridging the gap between traditionalism and impressionism creating fine art for this generation and beyond.
Victoria studied at the School for Visual Arts and the Student’s Art League of New York. Victoria’s wide scope of interests in the arts and her search for her multi-cultural roots lead her to Israel in 1979. There she studied at Jerusalem’s Betzalel Academy of Art and with other noted Israeli artists including Joseph Hirsch and Marak Yannai. Victoria was accepted as a member of the exclusive Jerusalem Artist’s House, where she both taught classes and exhibited her work.
Victoria is an instructor leading workshops abroad for several years in various countries. She is also a favored teacher at the Huntington Art League and The Village Artist.
She herself, has been fortunate to have studied with leading portrait artists including Greene, Sanden, and Shanks. She has also attended the Cape Cod School of Impressionism. Her main mentor throughout the years has been David Llefel.
Victoria's talents and reputation as a serious fine artist has brought her numerous and prestigious commissions. She has been commissioned to paint portraits for both private and public figures. Victoria’s work hangs locally as well as internationally in Israel, Ireland and Ecuador. Her paintings are also found in the most prestigious homes. She has recently had her work shown at the Mills Pond House Gallery, Heckscher Park Museum, the Theological Seminary in Manhattan, several higher educational faclitilies, and Manhattan public foundations, as well as the BJ Spokes Gallery, amongst many others.
Victoria has been featured in articles locally and internationally. Her expertise is often sought after. She has been a juror of numerous shows and institued an exhibition program curating the Main Street Petite Gallery and the Art-Trium. Victoria Carlin is a leader, inspiring an appreciation for art through educational opportunities locally and abroad. She is also the former president of the Huntington Arts Council.
Recently, Victoria received the commission of painting Father Tom Hartman (part of the famous GOD SQUAD) on behalf of the LI Channel 21 Public Television Station. A half-hour behind the scenes painting documentary of this commission was aired throughout the area in early 2007.
