A portrait is a journey between the artist, the person commissioning the work and the subject.

Victoria will first set up an interview to determine the scope of the project and how many sessions will be needed. Before the work begins there will be an agreed upon structure of the project allowing the patron to have the type of portrait desired within the parameters of time and budget.

First, the artist will meet with the client to discuss the size, location, and mood of the piece. Whenever possible an initial meeting with the subject is preferred. The first portrait sitting consists of a photography session lasting one to two hours. A pastel study will be created based upon the pose of choice. Upon approval of the pastel study, the oil portrait will be finished at the artist’s studio.
